Suspended for reporting assault?

Content Warning: The following contains reference to sexual assault.

Cameron — A 15-year-old in North Carolina was suspended for reporting a sexual assault. Police investigated the case. They found the boy who assaulted her guilty of sexual battery. But the school said they did their own investigation and found no evidence to support the girl's claims – so they suspended her. Now they are requiring that she take a course titled "Sexual Assault Is Preventable." Laci was appalled when she read this news. Join her to hold the administrators who participated in this grossly mishandled report accountable.

A 15 year old girl at Hawthorne Academy was suspended after she came forward about her Sexual Assault by another classmate. She had been harassed by this boy almost daily and one day he followed her into the girls bathroom, pushed her into a stall. and sexually assaulted her. She reported it to the school and the school contacted law enforcement. The boy admitted what he had done and was charged. The school then informed the mom of the 15 year old girl that they didn't find any evidence that the assault took place so they were suspending her daughter and forcing her to take a calls called "Sexual Assault Is Preventable." The mom told the school that the police had made an arrest and the boy admitted to the assault. The school informed her that the police's investigation had nothing to do with their own.

The girl now feels as if she is being punished for coming forward. The school staff and board members are refusing to make any statements on the matter.
Victims of SA rarely come forward because they fear they won't be believed. Situations like this prove them right.

Hold the staff and school accountable. Sign this petition and call for their resignation.

Stand with the victim.

Fire Disney CEO?

Cameron — Almost 50,000 former Disney Imagineers and Disney fans are calling on Disney to fire their current CEO, Bob Chapek. The petition argues that during his tenure, Disney's parks and creative projects have been severely neglected. It also calls attention to the over 28,000 Cast Members laid off during the pandemic, while executives retained large bonuses. Add your name to tell Disney their employees—and their legacy—deserve better.

Bob Chapek became the Chairman of Parks and Resorts for Disney in 2015. He has consistently made decisions that decrease the quality of what is put into the parks, and also ones that favor using Intellectual properties instead of original attractions. He consistently put himself and money above the product, and quality of the company.

In early 2020 he became the CEO of the Walt Disney Company which was extremely concerning. Bob Chapek has made an excessive amount of budget cuts, even with the Covid-19 pandemic being considered. Budget cuts began before the pandemic began, and increased. He recently reinstated full executive salaries at Disney, and also has laid off over 28,000 employees throughout the company. And now he is moving the focus to Disney plus, the current big money maker, instead of keeping the parks at high quality.

Normally you would think to keep the quality of the parks during a time of decreased revenue, but he is concerned about what will make him the most money quickest. Maintenance at the parks has also gotten its worst under Chapek, and is not getting better. Chapek has proven he doesn't care about the quality and legacy of Disney.

Josh D'Amaro, the current chairmen of parks and resorts, has not been able to do much under current circumstances, but has been very involved in the parks, assuring quality, greeting guests, and even riding through new attractions to assure high quality. He even went out of his way to console and apologize to cast members throughout Disney world and Disneyland that were effected by the layoff.

So far he has proven an interest, and commitment to the parks, and a want to make them better. While he hasn't been there long he has made a wonderful impression, and could be a good replacement for Mr. Chapek. There are also probably many other executives in Disney that they could make their new CEO. Bob Chapek is hurting and tarnishing the name of the Company, and needs to be removed.
